Melissa McGann Babu
Melissa McGann Babu is a principal in Andre, Morris & Buttery's Business and Real Estate Transactions Practice Group. Melissa received her B.A. degree, cum laude, in English from Boston College. She received her J.D. degree from the Villanova University School of Law in 2001, where she was the Executive Editor of the Villanova Sports & Entertainment Law Journal. Melissa joined Andre, Morris & Buttery in 2001, and she concentrates her practice in intellectual property law and business law.
The types of matters Melissa has handled include:- Represented numerous clients in acquiring and protecting their intellectual property, including registering trademarks at the state and federal level, launching nationwide enforcement programs to protect intellectual property, licensing various forms of intellectual property and resolving trademark disputes on the Internet.
- Handled the formation and dissolution of various business entities including limited liability companies, corporations, partnerships and non-profit foundations, as well as dealing with various operational issues encountered in the day-to-day business of these entities.
- Lectured on intellectual property law and software licensing issues as they pertain to educators and businesses.
Melissa is admitted to practice in all of the courts of the State of California and United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Melissa is currently a member of Board of Directors of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association and serves as the editor of the Bar Bulletin, its official newsletter. Melissa is also a member of the San Luis Obispo County Women Lawyers Association. Melissa served as a member of the Board of Directors for the San Luis Obispo County YMCA from 2003-2007.
